Obituary for Pauline E Bohannan (Parris)

Pauline E  Bohannan (Parris)
Grove, OK. Pauline (Parris) Bohannan, age 93, passed away from this life to be with her heavenly Father on, February 6, 2011 at the Grove Nursing Home in Grove, Oklahoma. She was born in Tahlequah, OK, August 15, 1917, to Thomas Parris and Lucy (Chastain) Parris.

She became a Christian in a brush-arbor on the Parris grounds, northwest of Tahlequah at a revival held by Pastor Ed Ruthford where 103 people were saved and baptized in two weeks. The family Parris Church was built later.

As a young woman, during World War II, she worked on B-29’s at Boeing Aircraft in Wichita, KS. After the war she married her beloved Lawson “Bo” Bohannan on December 22, 1945. They later moved to Fallbrook, CA where she worked in the local hospital and raised their two sons. While living in California, she was a Deaconess and Treasurer for several years in the Bonsall Community Church near Fallbrook, CA. In 1971, they moved back to Oklahoma and resided in Grove to be near her Mother and sister, Eleanor (Parris) Snell.

She remained active in the DAV – VFW Auxiliary, was an Honorary Member of the National Active & Retired Federal Employees, The Grand Lake O’ the Cherokees Quilt Guild, several other organizations and a member of Grand Lake Baptist Church in Grove.

Survivors include two sons, Tommy Lee Bohannan and wife, Connie of Grove and Jerry L. Bohannan and wife, Brenda of Tennessee; one granddaughter, Tammy Leigh Ward of Texas; one grandson, Jason Lindstrom of Deer Lodge, MT; a brother, Tom Parris and his wife, Jean of Winfield, KS; sister-in-law Ruth Parris and her children Lyle, Valeria, Valenda, Vonnie, Vivian and Valisha and their children and grandchildren of Ohio. She has many friends and family relations in Oklahoma, Arizona and California.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Lawson on June 6, 2003, her parents and a brother, L (Lyle) Parris in 1998 and a sister, Eleanor Snell on August 11, 2006.

A visitation for family and friends will be held from 9:00 a.m., until 8:00 p.m., on Wednesday, February 16, 2011. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m., Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the Grand Lake Baptist in Grove, Oklahoma with Reverend Larry Moore officiating. Graveside services will be held at 1:30 p.m. at the Parris Cemetery near Tahlequah, Oklahoma. Memorials may be made to Grand Lake Baptist Church, Grove, Oklahoma or Good Shepherd Hospice of Grove, Oklahoma.
